Round 2
At 3:oo in the morning I stumbled half-asleep through the sprawling labyrinth that is JFK Airport. When I reached the security check, they asked me if I had a laptop in my bag. I told them yes and was instructed to remove it. It never occurs to me during the packing process that I´m most likely going to have this thing at least once before I reach my destination. So I unzip my suitcase and what comes flying out but a couple of overstuffed-to-the-point-of-bulging boxes of tampons (I´d combined four boxes into two in order to save space) and a lacey, purple bra. Sweet.
For the next 16 hours nothing exciting happened.
Then the plane landed and in my sleep-deprived, semi-conscious state, I smiled at the thought that I´d left my worries across the sea, the equator and a couple of thousand kilometers. As I took off my coat, I felt myself melt softly into that end-of-summer warmth and saw the whole world spread out before me.
